How It Works

Our service is FREE. Yes, FREE.

You can simply come to our platform and find a certified Black Girl Stylist .

What does that mean a certified Black Girl Stylist? It means we’ve already completed the hard work for you. In order for a hairstylist, makeup artist, or nail artist to be featured on our platform they must submit an application and go through our vetting process. Our vetting process includes 5 key elements.

  1. Licensure: All hairstylists and nail artists on our platform are licensed in their operating State. Makeup artists do not require a license. NOTE: Braiders are not required to have a cosmetologist license unless required by operating State.

  2. Quality of Work: Each beauty professional listed must be ranked a minimum of an 8 on our Slay Meter. For reference, we use a 1-10 scale with 10 being the highest. So you know without a doubt you will get what you ask for.

  3. Professionalism: All beauty professionals listed value and display true professionalism.

  4. Reasonable Booking and Fee Stipulations: Each beauty professional has a reasonable booking policy. Also, all beauty professionals listed on our platform offer a 10 minute grace period. No more “Late Fee” added to your total for being only 5 minutes late AND no attitude given if you’re a little late. Our Certified Black Girl Stylists know life happens.

  5. NO LAST MINUTE CANCELLATIONS: Sisters rejoice! No more “Hey Boo” text messages. All beauty professionals on our platform are required to give a minimum 24 hour cancellation notice if they are unable to service you on your scheduled appointment date.

Once a beauty professional successfully completes our vetting process they are then listed on our platform and become a certified Black Girl Stylist. No one can simply pay to become a certified Black Girl Stylist. The vetting process must be successfully completed to obtain this honor; no exceptions!

We know how stressful it is to have an event to attend and on the day of your appointment you receive a text message saying they need to reschedule or worst you don’t receive a message at all!

That’s why we took it one step further.

If a beauty professional you book with on our platform gives you less than a 24 hour cancellation notice that stylist will be immediately banned from all of our platforms AND you will receive a $50 inconvenience fee directly from Black Girl Stylist. Please see terms of service for full details.
